Overview – Part 1 (6 CE): This course examines contemporary trends in health by exploring current U.S. health outcomes and expenditures and distinguishing between health span and life span. Students review research on the health effects of added sweeteners and alcohol consumption and investigate normal and abnormal vital‑sign measurements, with emphasis on height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse. The course also introduces the historical foundations of chiropractic care and analyzes the factors that contribute to chiropractic’s continued relevance in today’s healthcare landscape.

Overview – Part 2 (6 CE): This course investigates advanced issues related to therapeutic modality applications, with emphasis on interferential current, ultrasound, and thermal therapies. Includes accurate acquisition and interpretation of vital signs and the lifestyle factors that influence these physiological measures. The review of professional boundaries addresses informed consent, distinctions between privacy and confidentiality, relevant Wisconsin employment law, and strategies to promote healthy and appropriate professional boundaries.

Shockwave Therapy in Modern Musculoskeletal Care: Physiology, Technology, Evidence, and Patient Selection (applied for 1 CE – WI)
Overview: This course examines the foundational science and clinical application of Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy, beginning with shockwave physics and the differences between radial, focused electromagnetic, electrohydraulic, and piezoelectric systems. Participants will review the biologic effects of ESWT, including mechanotransduction, tissue remodeling, angiogenesis, pain modulation, and tendon, fascial, and chronic degenerative tissue healing. The course also covers current evidence supporting the use of ESWT for common musculoskeletal conditions such as tendinopathies and plantar fasciopathy, while emphasizing appropriate diagnosis, patient selection, contraindications, treatment parameter selection, and the integration of shockwave therapy into evidence-based conservative rehabilitation programs.

The Five Pillars of Chronic Pain: A Systems-Based Framework for Matching Patient Failures to Regenerative Care Strategies (applied for 1 CE – WI)
Overview: This course examines the multidimensional nature of chronic pain through the Five Pillars of Chronic Pain framework: Structure & Remodeling, Circulation & Oxygenation, Energy & Recovery Capacity, Inflammation & Sensitization, and Regulation (Sleep, Stress, and Autonomic Function). Participants will learn to identify common biologic “failure patterns” that contribute to persistent pain and functional limitation while reviewing current evidence supporting comprehensive evaluation and treatment planning. The course explores the appropriate integration of conservative and regenerative interventions—including therapeutic exercise, load management, manual therapy, extracorporeal shockwave therapy, photobiomodulation, electromagnetic field therapies, oxygen-based strategies, nutrition, recovery optimization, and interdisciplinary co-management—to develop individualized, evidence-based care plans for patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain.

Thoughts, Traumas & Toxins: A Comprehensive Clinical Approach (applied for 12 CE + Nutrition – WI)
Overview: This course is organized into three integrated modules: Thoughts, Traumas, and Toxins. The Thoughts module explores the physiology of stress, neuroendocrine function, upper cervical neurology, immune interactions, and nutritional approaches that support hormonal balance and reproductive health. The Traumas module examines injury biomechanics, common musculoskeletal dysfunction patterns, Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) principles, lumbopelvic assessment, Category II evaluation and correction, and refinement of manual adjusting skills through supervised clinical application. The Toxins module reviews environmental and lifestyle exposures, epigenetic influences on health, hepatic physiology and endogenous detoxification pathways, and evidence-informed nutritional strategies that support cellular function and normal physiologic detoxification processes. Throughout the course, participants will integrate clinical reasoning, nutrition, and manual assessment techniques into comprehensive, patient-centered care planning.
